Every June long weekend, the Flamin' Dragons put on their annual regatta at Rocks Ferry Reserve in Wauchope, drawing dragon boat crews from clubs across the state to paddle the Hastings River and sneak in some sightseeing around the Port Macquarie area. Its a laidback chance to watch grown adults wrangle oversized paddles while pretending theyre ancient warriors.

On Saturday 6 June 2026 from 11am to 3pm, teams tackle a 2000 metre turn race, twisting their 13 metre beasts around three tight corners like theyre parallel parking a bus in a phone booth. Sunday 7 June from 8am to 3.30pm shifts to sprint mode with 200 metre dashes that are all raw speed and zero mercy. Spectators get in free, just rock up and watch, while paddlers sort registration through their local clubs. Find it at Rocks Ferry Reserve, Rocks Ferry Road, Wauchope 2446.
