The Australian Haydn Ensemble returns to the Glasshouse, playing on period instruments and presenting an elegant and occasionally playful programme of lesser known works. Think refined chamber textures and some unexpected turns rather than the familiar favourites.

In the 18th century, composers from what is now the Czech Republic were surprisingly numerous and influential, even if their names do not loom large today. They were not wistful romantics brooding in garrets, they were practical travellers who hopped onto carriages bound for Austria, Germany or Italy and built careers abroad, often shaping the music of those who came after. In short, Bohemian by birth and cosmopolitan by trade.
