Yann Martel, the bloke behind the Booker Prize-winning Life of Pi that turned into an Oscar-winning film, is unpacking his first novel in a decade, Son of Nobody. Hes chatting with ABC Radio Nationals Claire Nichols about flipping the Trojan War script from the victors usual princely viewpoint to that of Psoas, a humble goatherd and son of nobody who stumbles into soldiering. Its a fresh take on ancient tales, reminding us stories belong to everyone, not just the powerful.
Happening Thursday 21 May 2026 from 12pm to 12.55pm at the Ross Family Studio on 30 to 42 Clarence Street and Hay Street in Port Macquarie. Tickets run 14 bucks for adults, 9.50 for Glasshouse or Library members, and 11 for concessions per session.
