The Future of Democracy series, put together by Nick Bryant and Rosalind Dixon in cahoots with the Sydney Writers Festival and UNSW Sydneys Resilient Democracy Lab, is dropping into Port Macquarie. Journalist Jon Sopel, whos no stranger to global headlines, will chew over ways to keep democracies from crumbling under pressure, with a side of Trumps America, all in chat with his hosts. Its the kind of talk that might make you nod sagely or raise an eyebrow, depending on your feed.

Happening Saturday 23 May 2026 from 12pm to 12.55pm at the Ross Family Studio in the Glasshouse Centre on 30 to 42 Clarence Street and Hay Street, Port Macquarie NSW 2444. Tickets run adult at $14, Glasshouse or Library members at $9.50, and concession at $11 per session.
