Get ready to don your Sunday best as the Anglican Church of St. Thomas hits the big 2-0-0. They first laid down their roots—even before Australia had a proper sports team—back on the 8th of December in 1824. Making it to the fifth oldest church in the land and still going strong, this gem was built by convicts under the watchful eye of the military and proudly holds the title of the oldest tourist attraction in Port Macquarie. Who knew a bunch of convicts could make such stunning architecture?
Join us for a week-long celebration of this milestone from the 1st to the 8th of December. It all kicks off on the 1st with a Combined Holy Communion Service led by the Rt Reverend Murray Harvey, our friendly Bishop of Grafton. You'll also get to witness the launch of Rev. Dr. John Barrett OAM's new book, humorously titled "From Convicts to Co-vid." So grab a family member or mate, shuffle your way over to St. Thomas Anglican Church on Hay Street, and let's get this party started—no gifts, just your lovely self required.
