The Rotary Club of Port Macquarie Sunrise puts on the Big Dig Treasure Hunt each year, a pirate-themed bash thats been running since 2012 to get families out and about. Kids show up in eye patches and tricorn hats, ready to shovel sand on the beach for hidden tokens, while the grownups join in and pretend theyre just supervising.

Everyone walks away with a prize no matter what, and its all free. It happens on Sunday 17 May 2026 from 9am to 1pm at Town Beach on Stewart Street in Port Macquarie.
