is turning 30 this year, which in exhibition years is basically ancient, but instead of retiring to a beach house it's doing what it does best: displaying artworks made by school kids from all over New South Wales. It's the annual show where 50 pieces get picked to live at The Children's Hospital at Westmead, where they apparently have the power to lift spirits and brighten the place up. Whether that's because they're genuinely good art or just something different to stare at while you wait, we'll leave that to the medical experts.
You can wander in for free, which is always a nice surprise, and the whole thing runs from Saturday the 8th of August to Sunday the 4th of October, so there's plenty of time to forget it's on and then remember later. It's at the Glasshouse Regional Gallery on Clarence Street in Port Macquarie, which is a fancy name for a building that probably has decent air conditioning and a gift shop. Pop in, have a look, and if the art doesn't heal you, the free entry might.
