Teachers, if you've ever looked a student in the eye and said "that's a beautiful elephant" while secretly suspecting it was meant to be a horse, this workshop might be for you. Operation Art is a three day professional learning session where you spend each morning and early afternoon making, creating, and learning in Visual Arts. It covers three different topic areas and is designed to build your confidence and skills for teaching primary art. No judgement if your own stick figure still looks a bit startled. You'll come away with practical ideas you can actually use in class, plus the reassurance that art can be fun, messy, and very forgiving.

The event runs from Tuesday 11 to Thursday 13 August 2026, from 9 am to 2.30 pm each day. It's at the Glasshouse Theatre on Clarence Street in Port Macquarie, so if you're nearby or don't mind a drive it's a decent excuse to get out of the school grounds for a bit. Tickets cost $280 for NSW government school teachers and $380 for teachers from non government schools. The program is open to both, so you can bring along a friend from the private sector and compare notes on who has more glue sticks left at the end of term.
