A clarinet tune drifts up like the sun stretching over sleepy strings, courtesy of five seriously skilled Australian musicians with the Australian Romantic and Classical Orchestra. Their First Light gig sweeps through chamber music from discovery days, blending old favourites with fresh stuff full of emotion and glow.

On the bill is Schuberts bouncy String Quartet No.7 in D major D.74, Mozarts trusty Clarinet Quintet in A major, and Nicole Murphys brand new ocean riff called Wavelength. Capping it off is Haydns Sunrise quartet, cheekily reworked for clarinet by Vincenzo Gambaro, that enterprising 18th century Italian who loved tweaking mates like Beethoven, Haydn and Mozart to flaunt his instruments warm tones.
